President of the recently dissolved Board of Badminton Federation of Nigeria( BFN), Justice Danlami Senchi, has said his headship of the sports association as President for several years was not in conflict with his role as a Judge of the FCT High Court neither did he violate the code of ethics guiding the appointment and functioning of judicial officers.
Justice Senchi who was recently elected President of the Confederation of Badminton in Africa (BCA) was reacting to a news report in a national newspaper credited to one Folusho Davies, a former player who claimed to have dispatched a petition to the National Judicial Council asking the body to mete out disciplinary actions against the Jurist for alleged violation of code of conduct for judges.
In a statement in Abuja at the weekend however, Justice Senchi said his assignment as President of BFN was purely a philanthropic activity adding the post did not attract any salary or emoluments.
“The Petition allegedly dispatched to the National Judicial Council asking the revered body to punish Justice Senchi for alleged violation of the rules by serving as President of the Federation is pure work of mischief, envy and malice. A copy of the petition was not availed Justice Senchi nor any member of the board as civilized conduct requires.
“We wish to state emphatically that there is no conflict of interest neither is there any case of violation of code of conduct for judicial officers by Justice Senchi as alleged in the report under reference. The Presidency of BFN does not attract salary or emoluments. It’s purely a high level of sports philanthropy,” the statement read in part.
