N’Assembly to Hold Public Hearing on Political Parties Debate Commission

The National Assembly Joint Committee on Establishment and Public Service and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a one-day public hearing on the proposed bill, establishing the Nigerian Political Parties Debate Commission.

The Chairman of the Joint Committee, Senator Paulker Emmanuel, said in a statement yesterday that the event would take place on May 31, 2017, at the conference room 022, Senate New Building, National Assembly, Abuja.

The bill is sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari and the event is expected to have in attendance, representatives of all registered political parties, members of the civil society groups, representatives of INEC, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), members of the academia and the media, as well as representatives of the labour unions, among others.

Others expected at the event include representatives from the ministries of Education, Justice, Information and Culture, National Planning, Women Affairs, the National Human Rights Commission and the political class.
