Amaechi Tackles Wike over Accusation of Forming Cult Group

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has berated Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for accusing him of forming a new cult group in the state.

A statement issued by his media office, Amaechi said Wike has “continued to display unabated, his exclusive and uncommon strand of gubernatorial madness when he attempted to link his mentor, benefactor and predecessor,” as a sponsor of cultists in Rivers State.

The statement said the governor did not provide any shred of evidence to prove his claims.
“We know that Wike craves attention and always wants to be seen in the media to be ‘exposing and fighting’ Amaechi. However, we will burst his bubble this time and will not indulge him.

“If he has any sense, Wike ought to know by now that no one takes him seriously anymore, especially whenever he makes those cooked-up vile, malicious allegations against Amaechi. This his new concocted story is not any different from the previous numerous false allegations he has made against Amaechi,” it said.

Wike had accused Amaechi of owning the $43 million found in an Ikoyi apartment without providing proof or taking the federal government to court if it did not return the fund to the state as threatened by the governor.

“Wike wants us to forget that only recently, he made an allegation that the over $43million found in an Ikoyi apartment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were stolen Rivers State funds kept in the apartment by Amaechi. Wike had also lied that the luxury Ikoyi apartment belonged to Amaechi.

“This fresh attempt by Wike to distract Nigerians from his earlier false, politically motivated allegations against Amaechi on the over $43million Ikoyi money, will not fly,” the statement said.
Wike had on Monday accused Amaechi, who is also the immediate past governor of the state, of forming a new cult group with the motive of creating security crisis in the state ahead of the 2019 elections.

Wike spoke during the inauguration of the Kpopie-Bodo Road in Gokana Local Government Area as part of activities to commemorate two years anniversary of his administration.
He stated that the new cult group formed by the former governor has been christened new rivers cult group.
He urged security agencies to call the immediate past governor to order as the new cult group would be resisted by the law abiding people of the state.

He stated that the former governor inaugurated the cult group at a private residence in Woji area of Port Harcourt, after which he distributed N500,000 to each of the 23 local government areas.
He also stated that the new cult group has two coordinators: Messrs Ojukaye Flag Amachree and Oji Ngofa who have been mobilised by the former governor. Ojukaye is at present standing trial for murder.

He said: “Let me alert Nigerians. I am only informing Nigerians and security agencies of the crime against Rivers State by the immediate past governor.
“We have successfully concluded the state amnesty programme for cultists in the state, but the former governor has set up another cult group.”

The governor explained that the former governor assured members of his new cult group that they would receive security protection, adding that the new cult group members have been armed for the 2019 general election.
“I am shouting for the security agencies to hear us. Let heaven hear us. Let nobody allow his son to be used.
“No amount of cult recruitment can intimidate us. I am calling on the security agencies to call the former governor to order,” Wike said.
