Late Aminu Kano’s Wife, Shatu Dies at 89

The surviving wife of the late Malam Aminu Kano, First Republic politician and statesman, Malama Shatu Aminu, has died at the age of 89.

Shatu died at her residence in Goron Dutse in the wee hours of yesterday, according to information from the late sage’s loyalists.

Shatu died 34 years after her husband, Aminu Kano, a radical politician and founder of Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) joined his ancestors in April 1983.

She disappeared from public view two years ago following an ailment that struck her and had remained incommunicado till her last breath.

Shatu was buried according to Islamic rites attended by prominent personalities in the state.
