By Victor Ogunje in Ado Ekiti
As fuel scarcity occasioned by the lingering crisis between the Ekiti State government and petrol dealers lingers, youths suspected to be thugs, on Tuesday vandalised some filling stations in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The irate youths destroyed property worth millions of naira in protest against the continued strike of the fuel marketers.
Fuel marketers in the state had since Monday last week stopped selling fuel to motorists in compliance with the directive of the leadership of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of
Nigeria (IPMAN), National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Petrol Tanker Drivers (PTD), which ordered their members in the state to stop bringing the product to the state.
Filling stations badly hit during the attack included NIPCO, along Adebayo area, Ado Ekiti, owned by Alhaji Suleiman Akinbami, who is also the  secretary, Petroleum Marketing Dealers in Ekiti State; Tetra
Abby Company Ltd, also at Adebayo and its branch along Dallimore Street, both owned by a marketer popularly called Ade Bank.
According to an eyewitness, the attackers arrived at NIPCO filling station as early as 7:10am, brandishing axes, cutlasses, bottles, and attacked everything on sight.
