Exactly a week after they fled their Abuja abodes to Lagos in search of greener pastures, the operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, weekend, re-united the two fleeing teenagers with their parents.
The duo of Chidubem Amaechi, 13 and Chinedu Onyebuchi, 13, were last week rescued by the RRS operatives after they alighted from an Abuja mass transit at the  Ojodu area of Berger in Lagos and were wandering round the park.
They were both sighted by the operatives who invited them questioning and they initially lied that they were kidnapped and blindfolded before they were driven to Lagos by their abductors.Â
According to their claims, they had escaped from their abductors who slept off under  the bridge before Ogun –Lagos long bridge.Â
 Armed with that information, the officers first moved the boys to the RRS Headquarters, where an investigation into their alleged kidnapping was launched immediately.
While the investigations progressed, officers suspected the children were lying about the kidnapping story when they couldn’t maintain same statement.
It took three days of questioning before they both opened up that they connived to leave Abuja because of the poor living condition of their respective parents.
To achieve their plans, Amaechi said he contributed  N4,200 from his savings while Chinedu added N500 as transport fare to Lagos.Â

It was at this point that the operatives contacted their parents, who said they have been looking for the boys in Abuja since May 14, 2017.
They expressed shock when contacted that their children were in the custody of Rapid Response Squad in Lagos.
Confirming the incident, RRS Commander, Olatunji Disu, who received the parents of the teenagers on the fifth day of being in the  custody in his office, appealed to parents and guardian to monitor and take good care of their wards.
The boys were re-united and released to their parents after they promised not to repeat their actions again.
