Tejuoso Bags Distinguished Service Award at NMA Conference

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Senator Lanre Tejuso has been honoured with a Distinguished Service Award by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for his outstanding contribution to the upliftment of the health sector in the country.

Tejuoso, who got the award at the just concluded Annual General Conference of NMA in Calabar said he would continue to advocate for better healthcare for the benefit of Nigerians, while also putting measures in place to strengthen the sector in his capacity in the Senate.

The lawmaker, a prince of the dynasty of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, CON, Karunwi III, Oranmiyan, Osile of Oke-Ona Egba called for collaboration to strengthen the sector.

Meanwhile, in a communique signed by NMA President, Mike Ogirima at the general conference, members of the association advocated for a single digit interest rate on loan facilities for members who want to establish world class hospitals that can compete favourably with similar institutions in developed countries.

It also called on the federal government to ensure implementation and adherence to collective agreements to forestall incidents of unnecessary and avoidable industrials disputes

“We call on the federal government to release the white paper on the Yayale Ahmed report. We also want the government to commence full implementation of the provisions of the national health act and provide legal backing for the RTP,” the statement reads in part.
