Oneya Hails South-south over Reception for Pinnick

Respected former NFA Chairman and former Military Governor of Kano and Benue States, Brig. Gen Dominic Obukadata Oneya (rtd), has hailed the South-south Congress of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State over its plans to host NFF President, Melvin Amaju Pinnick, this weekend.

Speaking with the Chairman of Edo FA and Spokesman of the Congress, Frank Ilaboya, Oneya said Amaju is like a son to him and has made him proud and he is personally honoured at the achievement of the young and suave Nigerian football administrator.
“Lion, they say begets lion and Amaju has not disappointed all of us in the South-south and indeed Nigeria and I must say he is indeed worth celebrating over his giant strides in football administration and politics,” he declared. He assured all that he will personally be at the occasion as a true South-south man to honour Amaju.

NFF Ist Vice-President, Seyi Akinwunmi, spoke in a similar vein, declaring that the NFF president has been a shinning light to Nigerian football and he expects the entire football fraternity in the country to honour him not only the South-south.
“I am from the South-west but this is not an event that true football lovers in the country should miss, because it’s a new dawn in Nigerian football and I am happy that my president is pioneering it,” he said.

On his part, NFF Executive Committee member and Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, said he will lead a strong Northern delegation to the event in Benin City to underline the unity and strength of the Nigerian football family.
He declared that in the near future the home of football in Africa will be in Nigeria and Pinnick has started a quiet revolution towards that line.
