2019: Enugu West Pledges Support for Ugwuanyi

• Over 5000 defect to the PDP

The people and leaders of Enugu West senatorial district of Enugu State yesterday unanimously pledged to support the re-election bid of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in 2019.

Rising from an expanded meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  Enugu West senatorial district, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, conveyed the unanimous decision, adding that Ugwuanyi deserves the support of the zone because of his remarkable achievements in office and uncommon love for the people of the area.

Ekweremadu noted that the governor always considers the interest of the people of the zone through provision of critical infrastructure and appointment of their sons and daughters in various positions.

The PDP meeting witnessed a large turnout of party faithful and supporters from the zone and beyond, and also a mass defection of over 5000 members from other political parties into the PDP, who said they were joining the PDP because of good governance and the leadership qualities of Ugwuanyi.

The defecting members were from parties such as All Progressives Congress (APC) , All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)  and Labour Party (LP) .

Gov. Ugwuanyi who appreciated the gesture of the people of the zone in supporting his administration,  disclosed that local government elections will hold in the state this year.

The governor also told the mammoth crowd that his administration will soon reconstitute the membership of state boards and re-energize the structure of governance for more effective service delivery.

Declaring their support for Gov. Ugwuanyi, the people of Enugu West donated two Toyota Hiace buses to the state and zonal leadership of the PDP, respectively, towards the actualization of the governor’s reelection bid, calling on sons and daughters of the zone to support the noble cause.
