The Nigeria Police investigative team late wednesday evening raided the Sharada residence of Mr. Lawan Musa Kwankwaso, the younger brother of the former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The policemen who were said to be a special squad sent from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, searched all the rooms in the residence which is occupied by Kwankwaso’s younger brother and his wife, looking for documents on the former governor.

The source also revealed that the “heavily armed squad sneaked into the Kano city and were stationed at Sharada Police Station for the smooth conduct of the operation.

It was not clear the target of the covert operation, but sources revealed that “it has something to do with a business deal involving Senator Kwankwaso where his younger brother served as a front.”

Another source also revealed that the special squad conducted a thorough search in an operation that lasted for over three hours.

THISDAY gathered Kwankwaso’s younger brother who was caught unaware by the security agents, offered “total cooperation to the visitors”.

Although there were no clear picture on what was recovered from the residence, sources claimed that “it was a successful operation.”

The police spokesman in Kano, Magaji Musa Majia, said: “Our command was not behind the operation and so I cannot comment on it.

“We should be let out of this because Kano command has nothing to do with the operation.”

However, media aide to Senator Kwankwaso, Hajiya Binta Spikin, confirmed that the police went to the senator’s younger brother’s residence and conducted search but she declined further details.

All efforts to contact Lawan Kwankwaso proved abortives as at the time of filing the report.
