First Deepwater Overcomes Challenges, Win First Tie

First Deepwater Basketball Team arrived Kaduna venue of the ongoing Zenith Bank Women’s League on Tuesday evening to a rousing welcome from other teams.
The team tutored by former international, Lateef Erinfolami, had some challenges before embarking on the trip to Kaduna for the second phase of the league.
Although Coach Erinfolami did not state the form of challenge the squad had, he expressed gratitude for making it to Kaduna.
He however showered praises on his wards for winning their first match against  Oluyole Babes 44 -37.
They however were not that lucky against the defending champions First Bank yesterday. They lost 50 – 88 to the Elephant Girls.
In other matches decided on Wednesday, Nasarawa Amazons beat Taraba Hurricanes 45 – 40, FCT Angels defeated Zamfara Babes 41 – 33 while Oluyole Babes overpowered Ekiti Angels 36 – 21.
Speaking after the break yesterday, the NBBF, Augustine Balewa, said they were happy with level of understanding shown by the teams and promised that they would not disappoint until the end of the league.
He also heaved a sigh of relief that Deepwater were able to overcome their challenges and made it to the venue.
