New NEMA DG Assumes Duty

Mr.  Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja, on Friday, assumed duty as Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) replacing, Alhaji Sani-Sidi who ended his tenure after spending six years and six months at the helm of affairs of the agency. The incoming DG during his short acceptance speech, stated that he was taking over the agency at a time the country was faced with major emergency involving Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in various parts and Meningitis ravaging various States and other challenges requiring urgent response from NEMA and other concerted efforts with various agencies. Maihaja explained that as someone from the Northeast who has been directly affected by the deplorable conditions of IDPs in the region, he was familiar with the crisis and the need for urgent and lasting solution towards rehabilitation of affected fellow citizens. According to him, “Within the next few days, we shall role out an agenda for the activities of NEMA under my management, with immediate action towards rehabilitating IDPs across the country.
