As over 38 aspirants scramble for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2018 polls, the Chairman of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political group in Ekiti State, Mr. Yemi Alade, has told the leaders of the party not to manipulate the primary in favour of any aspirant.
Alade said this at the weekend in Ado Ekiti during a courtesy visit by one of the contestants, Dr. Wole Oluyede, who the group described as a role model to the youths.
The Afenifere leader commended Oluyede’s humility, saying: “Ekiti is specifically lucky to have an illustrious son like him, who has devoted his life to serve humanity. I urge you to go all out and spread the gospel of good governance he had felt in other nations to APC members for Ekiti to consider him worthy of being elected into that coveted seat.
“It is good for people to know about these lofty ideas, initiatives, and good plans for Ekiti. These are the kind of people we want, and I pray that you will get there. In getting the best candidate, APC must be fair with its primary,” he added.
