Sultan, a Stabilising Factor in Nigeria, Says US Ambassador

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Stuart Symington, Tuesday said the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has remained a stabilising factor in Nigeria.
Symington made the assertion when he paid a courtesy call on the Sultan in his palace in Sokoto. According to him, the United States is happy with the role the monarch is playing in ensuring sustainable peace and unity in the country.
“The Sultan is a father to all Nigerians and he is worthy of emulation by all Nigerians and non Nigerians alike. So, the visit is aimed at appreciating the role of the monarch in enhancing  security in the country,” the envoy said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to continue to  sustain the existing mutual relations between it, Nigeria and other African nations.
