Sokoto Releases N2.2bn for Payment of Gratuity to LG Workers

Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Monday released N2.2 billion for the payment of gratuity to local government workers.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Alhaji Mannir Dan’iya, in Sokoto.

According to the statement, the sum of N1.2 billion was earmarked for the payment of accumulated gratuity from 2010 to the council staff of Sokoto State.

It stated that outstanding allowances, amounting to over N662 million, due to the elected council chairmen and their councilors in the 23 local government areas had been released, while the sum of N346,747,891 had been released as severance gratuities to former council officials.
