The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday disclosed that following the assessment conducted on the Onitsha tanker fire incident in Anambra State, it discovered that 13 buildings, 16 vehicles and three filling stations were burnt down, while two persons were seriously injured.

A petrol tanker with failed brakes had last Wednesday in Oguta Roundabout run into a Mobil filling station, fell down and consequently spilled its contents which precipitated a fire outbreak.

NEMA said the assessment was carried out in conjunction with the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (ANSEMA).

NEMA, in a statement by its Head of Media, Sani Datti, said: “The fire outbreak wreaked havoc on residential and commercial buildings, as well as makeshift shops, while goods worth millions of naira were destroyed.”
