The governors of the 36 states of the federation have said that they are ready to take on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which is investigating them over the alleged diversion of the refund made to states from the excess charges of Paris Club.

After a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja late Thursday night under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), the governors said they would await the report of EFCC investigation.

There have been reports that some states allegedly diverted the refunds made to them from the Paris Club debt deductions. Some states were said to have used fictitious consultants to divert some of the money from the Paris Club which had attracted the attention of the EFCC.

Worried by the development, the Presidency reportedly ordered a full scale investigation into the disbursement of the funds.
