The South-west governors on Monday held a meeting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, in continuation of the regional integration of the zone under the Development Agenda for Western Commission (DAWN).

Speaking at the opening session of the programme, the host and Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, said the federal government’s allocation in the N7 trillion worth 2017 budgetary provision to the South-west was inadequate and meagre to drive development in the zone.

The governor also canvassed for a concerted effort to tackle the menace of the rampaging herdsmen in the zone to boost commercial agriculture and to spur the youths to embracing commercial agriculture.

Fayose pointed out that to move the zone forward, there must be respect for the political beliefs and opinions of others and urged the governors to refrain from doing anything that could undermine one another.

Governors at the meeting included the host, Fayose, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Dr Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Mr Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos ) and the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, who represented the governor.
