Despite the concerted efforts by stakeholders to safe guard the pension scheme in Nigeria, National Action Against Corruption (NAAC) has alleged that former Vice-chairman First Guarantee Pension Limited (FGPL), Hon Chidi Duru, is negating it.
In a statement made available to journalists yesterday by the Secretary of the group, Idowu Taylor, the anti-corruption crusader also condemned the death threats on Gen. Secretary of the National Union of Textile Workers (NUTGTWN), Issa Aemu, lamenting that “it is inhuman and callous for Duru, an ex-member of the national assembly and former vice-chairman of FGPL to allegedly mismanage pension funds entrusted on him while he held sway as the head of FGPL.”
NAAC noted that it is morally reprehensible and unlawful for Duru to resort to blackmailing the authorities of FGPL after alleged connivance with to divert brokerage commissions amounting to millions of naira.
Furthermore, the anti-corruption group lamented that Duru, after appealing for a safe landing following his removal from the board FGPL, should explain to the public why he brought a South African National to defraud the company in the name of foreign investment.
“Finally, we commend the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for Duru’s arrest. We solicit his immediate arraignment to serve as a deterrent to others, so as not to evade prosecution. We have it on good authority of his sponsors and their sinister motives and we are also aware of their shady involvements with him. We are watching them and soonest their names will be made public including their activities against the law of the land. Justice delayed is justice denied,” the statement said.
