The 5 Best Spots for Valentine’s Day in Lagos

Nok at Alara

The Garden at Nok is nothing short of perfect. It is situated in victoria Island . One thing I love about Nok by Alara is that you can go there several times and always find something new and exciting to try because they have 4 different menus – lunch, dinner, brunch and garden. I really do appreciate the diversity and the attention to detail, appreciating that people want to eat different things at times and in different environments. It might not always hit, but the amount of thought put into Nok is commendable. Try Hummus with Suya (beef), BBQ beef Ribs that weren’t a struggle to eat, Jerk Chicken Wings, Grilled Corn on the Cob, Goat Sliders. Same with the corn on the cob, they didn’t just grill it, they made it a bit sticky and added sesame seeds. Oh how could I forget the cocktails, as a true Lagos gal, I had theGidi Scent (rum, scent leaf, lime juice, ginger and lemonade) and the Lagosians (Cointreau, brandy, strawberry, lime).

Both were good, but the Lagosians was the bomb. Sweet and subtly strong (aka you shouldn’t feel like you’re drinking the liquor straight) as a cocktail should be, in my humble opinion.

Izanagi

The food at Izanagi is quality. However, don’t expect to go here and get a bargain, it’s not “affordable” like that. With their little heart-shaped confetti type sprinkled all over the table, its the cutest thing for lovers. Also in victoria Island, it’s the perfect spot for those couples working on the island

Vellvett

Vellvett is going all out for Valentine’s Day this year. They’ll have three different Valentine’s Day menus over three days.

Uptown @ Avenue Suites

If you start the evening a bit earlier, you’re likely to get a great view of the sun setting. Then later in the evening, if the street lights are lit on Adetokunbo Ademola and Ahmadu Bello, you’ll also have another great view as the evening progresses and throw in a stroll on the beach to make the evening great. And the food is sumptuous.

Grillroom @ Wheatbaker

Great food and ambience situated in the serene part of Ikoyi. And with all that dim lightning, it’ll be the perfect backdrop for a romantic dinner.
