LG Polls Peaceful in Yobe

By Michael Olugbode
Residents of Yobe State on Saturday peacefully went to the polls to elect their representatives into the 17 local governments. The council elections were last held four year ago following the Boko Haram insurgency.
The polls recorded no security breach as the electorate filed out to exercise their franchise in numbers.
A visit to some of the polling booths in the highly populated Damaturu and Potiskum showed that the electorate did not entertain the fear of suicide attacks as they were seen on the queues.
There were however inconsistencies in the turnout as some polling booths recorded heavy turnout while some others recording fewer people.
