She Leads Africa is a community that helps young African women achieve their professional dreams. With engaging online content and pan-African events, they have become the premier destination for smart and ambitious young women.
Through their community website, ‘She Leads Africa’ shares stories that inspire and motivate women to live their best life; hosts events across Africa and diaspora where members can build their network; curates specially created tools and courses designed just for their community; and provides direct access to career and business experts for real advice.
The community was co-founded by Afua Osei and Yasmin Belo-Osagie in 2014, and in the past year ‘She Leads Africa’ has seen a 600 per cent increase in their community, having more than 200,000 women across more than 30 countries and five continents. They have been able to supply business and career advice through in-person workshops and digital training on their worldwide city tours called SheHive.
SheHive has gone through Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and England, and continues to run all year round, with new cities added and old cities revisited. This year, on Saturday, January 21st, She Leads Africa presents their first ever full day SLAY Festival in Lagos.
She Leads Africa is taking on Africa’s first ever green festival. The SLAY Festival will be powered using solar energy provided via solar panel installations by the solar shop, and will produce minimal waste via a partnership with Recycle Points to encourage eco-friendly waste disposal.
The festival is a one-day celebration of innovation, culture, technology, music, arts, food and all things entrepreneurial, which makes the slogan is “a celebration of you” very adept. SLAY Festival is a fun way to celebrate everything that makes the African woman great by equipping attendees with tools, resources and connections that will enhance their careers and achieve their goals.
Speakers and panelists at the festival include; renowned entrepreneurs Tara and Fela Durotoye, award-winning director Kemi Adetiba, personal finance expert Arese Ugwu, popular film maker Mary Remmy Njoku, media personality Bolanle Olukanni and the former CEO of Chocolate City Audu Maikori amongst others.
Open to all entrepreneurs and business-oriented women, the SLAY Festival hopes to change the way the world views African women and expose them to latest developments and technologies to spur deeper thinking and ambition while creating an interactive and unforgettable experience.
