Yuletide: Police, NSCDC Deploy 3700 Personnel in Sokoto

The Sokoto State Commands of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday said they had deployed 3,700 personnel to ensure hitch-free Christmas celebration.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Abdulkadir, disclosed this in Sokoto on Saturday.

Abdulkadir said the command had deployed over 3000 Officers and men across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

He said officers were directed to embark on stop and search patrols, especially the special anti robbery squads. ”We have also intensified on mobile patrols, surveillance by the conventional and plain-clothes personnel.

“All the officers and men in the command had been put on red alert as the yuletide lasted. The command will not leave anything to chance to ensure that, the festivities from now to the new year are peaceful and hitch-free,” he said.

On his part, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Babangida Abdullahi, said the NSCDC had deployed no fewer than 700 Officers and men across the state, with a special focus on sokoto metropolis and its environs.

“All our officers and men had been put on red alert and the corps had fully strategised to ensure peaceful and event-free yuletide. He appealed to the residents to continue to support the security agencies, saying illegality will not do anybody any good.
