By Michael Olugbode in Maiduguri
Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday presented a budget of N183 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2017 fiscal year, with the reconstruction of schools destroyed during the peak of Boko Haram insurgency getting the largest chunk of the allocation.
The reconstruction of the destroyed schools and construction of new ones will gulp N33 billion in the appropriation bill tagged: “Budget of Consolidation, Restoration and Rebirth,” aimed at bringing the state out of the woods after the long siege by Boko Haram.
The governor equally said the budget is aimed at reaching out to all the local government areas for the purpose of smooth restoration of civil structures, essential services and facilities and the complete return of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and resuscitation and reviving of all economic, social and even political activities.
