Edo FA Awards Hold in Benin City Today

As dignitaries gather for this evening’s football Awards Nite organised by the Edo Football Association, stakeholders have been commending the association for the bold initiative to reward excellence in football development and administration.

Chairman of Chairmen, and a member of the NFF Executive Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, described the Award Nite as commendable and worthy of emulation.

Gusau, who was present at the maiden edition last year at the Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, says the football house is pleased with the initiative of Edo State Football Association to reward those who have contributed to the development of football in the state.
“The Edo State Football Association deserves all the commendation for initiating this award. There is nothing as good as your efforts and contributions being recognized and rewarded.

“I was in attendance last year and I must say the turn out and the general organization was very impressive.”
Speaking in the same vein, veteran coach, Alabi Aisien, said football stakeholders owe the present Edo FA Board a lot of commendation for this noble initiative.

“I must once again commend this board for this great innovation. This board has continued to put things right in the state and there is every hope that under this dispensation, football will return to its prime position in Edo State.
“Frank Ilaboya has given us hope that we still have a great and exciting future ahead in this state.

The Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, popularly called Denco also commended the FA for a job well done. “I feel very proud to chair this great Awards where you have collection of football personalities past and present.

“I’m highly encouraged by this great move by the football house in the state to reward excellence, and events like this will bring back Edo State to its number one status as the sports hub of the federation,” he added.

This year’s Awards Nite comes up at Excalibur Hotels, Etete, Benin City by 6pm today.
