Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has hailed Nnewi and Onitsha in Anambra State as the hot beds of industrialisation in Nigeria.

Osinbajo was in the state on a one-day working visit/tour of selected industries where he also inspected some of the products manufactured by industrialists in the state.

The vice president who was at the compound of Pokobros Group in the company of the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, was received by some of the industrialists.

An obviously elated Osinbajo declared that he was overwhelmed at the entrepreneurial spirit of the Anambra people, promising to take back the message to the president and solicit support for them.

“I am very pleased to be here to see the sheer enterprise, business attitude and entrepreneurial spirit exhibited here.

“This is the hot bed of industrialisation in Nigeria. I will take words back to the president and see whatever way he can assist you.
“We are happy that you create jobs here, and the good thing is that it is our people who get the jobs created by you,” Osinbajo said.

He also visited Nnewi, where he toured a number of factories, describing the Chairman/CEO of Chicason Group, Dr. Chika Okafor, as one of the leading industrialists in Africa.
He assured the people that the federal government would address the issue of power and forex in order to mitigate the hardship the industrialists go through.

The vice president said the federal government was passionate about supporting local manufacturers to succeed, adding that the government had adopted a policy of buying locally manufactured goods as a measure to encourage local manufacturers.

Osinbajo said the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved the purchase of specialised vehicles for the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) from the Nnewi-based Innoson Motors.
