Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has lamented that government is the only sector in the country where there is too much free money to be accessed by political office holders.

Obi was speaking at Yurithe official presentation of Yuboss, a platform on Yudala online stores, in a seminar tagged; creating and sustaining wealth in the 21st century.

The former governor, who was a co-speaker to Chief Leo-Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group lamented that because of the huge wealth accessible in government, youths no longer concentrate on creative ventures that could bring wealth, but rather choose to be sycophants to political office holders.

Obi charged youths of Enugu State on wealth creation and sustenance, taking them through how to be self-dependent in a third world country like Nigeria, while also drawing examples from his breakthroughs in business and political spheres.

“Government is the only place where people make wrong money, and that is why people will do anything to remain in office. Most people don’t seem to realise that if man has never created wealth, he will never be able to manage wealth.

“To be a successful entrepreneur, you must dedicate your time. Entrepreneurs are people who are driven by passion and not quest for money. They are people who seek to impact the society. You must also be trustworthy, obedient and humble. These are some of the ways you can make it as an entrepreneur”, Obi said.
He called for true change among the Igbos that will see them extol hardworking entrepreneurs, instead of celebrating office holders who have embezzled public funds.

Earlier, Leo-Stan Ekeh had charged youths to be innovative and follow their passion if they must succeed in life. He urged youths to shun ostentatious lifestyle and quest for material things, but remain focused on achieving their dreams, and above all be very prayerful.

Founder of Yudala Online/Offline Stores, Prince Nnamdi Ekeh, said the idea behind the setting up of Yuboss is to give young people the opportunity to represent Yudala and also make a living from percentages accruing from every purchase made from by people they referred to shop on the platform.

The event was held in partnership with Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
