Glo Campus Storm Features Music, Dance, Comedy, Pageantry at Nekede

The campus community of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, enjoyed a full dose of sublime entertainment during the Glo Campus Storm music concert held on Friday, October 28, at the institution located on the outskirts of Owerri, Imo State.

The show, which was the third in the 2016 edition of the music concert, was a pot pourri of events designed to entertain the students, staff and other members of the campus community.

During the concert, the fusion of music, dance, comedy and pageantry snowballed into an evening of classic entertainment.

Kenyan hip hop diva, Victoria Kimani set the ball rolling when she appeared on stage wearing a netted hipster and tank-top. The singer engaged the awed crowd in a manner akin to the American hip hop star, Beyonce.

Omawumi’s sensational act with her live band jolted the crowd to their feet. She rendered a blend of Afro-pop, soul and hip hop in her tracks, ‘If you ask me’, ‘Belle’, ‘You must love me’, ‘As I dey’ and ‘I go go’. Emotions drew high when she gave out her shoes to one of her fans.

Eme Stephens’ re-enactment of late Michael Jackson’s electrifying dance steps won him the best dancer prize, a contest he competed for with several other students. MC Gordons’s comic challenge of the winner caused a stir among the crowd who couldn’t stop laughing.

Then came the pageantry. A group of eighteen young male students and eighteen female students vied for the position of “Glo Campus Data Dude and Diva”.

The keenly contested pageantry produced Bright Amadi, an ND II Building Technology student’ as “Glo Campus Data Dude” and Amarachi Ezenwugo, an HND I Public Administration student, as “Glo Campus Data Diva”.

MI’s performance climaxed the show.

Creatively delivering his rhymes while performing “One Naira”, “African Rapper Number One” and “If Nobody Talks About You”, Mr. Incredible raised the tempo of the already implosive concert.

The institution’s registrar, Mr. Ilobe Matthew, who attended the concert commended Globacom for considering the school a ‘worthy’ host of the event. “We recognize and appreciate the kind gesture of Globacom for bringing this highly entertaining show to Federal Polytechnic, Nekede”, he said.

In his remarks, the President of the Student Union Government, Onumara Nnachetam, praised the company for its youth-oriented products and services, saying that “the Glo Campus Data Booster especially has helped the students improve in their academics.” He urged the students to continue using Glo network because of its youth-centric services.

The nationwide campus concert which kicked off two weeks ago at the University of Port Harcourt, held last week Friday at the Enugu Campus of the University of Nigeria and will tour twenty-one other institutions.

Globacom encouraged students wishing to attend the show in any of the campuses to recharge their Glo lines with just N500 Campus Data Booster plan to be admitted into the concert.
