As Nigeria undergoes its worst travails in decades, the Wife of the Vice-President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, has charged citizens to seek the face of God in prayer in order to rescue the country from the clutches of hardship which face the nation presently.
She disclosed this yesterday at the 8th Arise annual women conference in Lagos with the theme: ‘Grace to Grace’ and called on women to play a role in nation building through prayer and role modelling, adding that every Nigerian should seek to support the efforts of the present administration to transform the country.
In her remarks, the convener of Arise Women, Pastor Siju Iluyomade, stated that the theme of this year’s conference suggests a progression and upward movement, while aligning body, soul and spirit for the singular purpose of showing God’s favour in them.
“Arise has provided a platform of grace where women from every demography imaginable come together to praise the grace of God.”
She lamented that most women are crippled by life’s challenges, broken by shame and bent over by ill-health, adding that some are blessed, able to assist and influence decisions concerning the lives of others.
Iluyomade, who recounted the successes of 2015 conference, stated that over 200 women were trained in different skill acquisitions initiatives such as hat-making, soap making, bead making and others, adding that the highpoint of the 2015 conference was the offering of medical care to over 300 women from Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in and around Abuja.
She added: “We have provided free healthcare to the public through our mobile clinics. We have also provided skills acquisitions and vocational trainings for economic gains to participants. We have also provided education, teaching, training using the Arise module as a tool to teach compassion, good neighbourliness, tolerance, and kindness. In the area of leadership, we propel and compel women to take the reins of leadership thereby influencing their communities and nation at large.”
