Aggrieved members of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Friday made an unsuccessful bid to obtain a court injunction restraining the national chairman, Dr. Victor Oye from functioning in that capacity.

The move came just as the leadership of the party said all issues relating to the disagreements within the NWC had been resolved and that all members have accepted to embrace peace.

THISDAY gathered from sources at the national secretariat of the party that about nine aggrieved NWC members are behind the effort to unseat the national chairman, accusing him of high-handedness and violation of the constitution of the party.

The source said Friday’s unsuccessful attempt to get a restraining order from a court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was part of the game-plan to take out Oye.
“We were reliably informed that the aggrieved group have gone to the court to shop for an injunction in an FCT High Court to restrain the national chairman from continuing to function in his position, but that move to secure the injunction failed this morning”, he said.

The source who did not want his name mentioned said “the party has resolved to return to status quo ante, that is the decision, and with this injunction also failing this morning, it also re-enforces the fact that we have reverted to status quo.”
APGA had held a meeting of the NWC on Thursday where about 21 members signed to a resolution to put an end to the recent dispute that pitted the chairman and some of the members.

The party at a meeting of the NWC held at the National secretariat in Abuja resolved to support the resolutions reached at the peace deal brokered by the Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano under the auspices of the national stakeholders of the party.

Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye said the NWC has resolved to pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the party under the national chairman, Dr. Victor Oye.
Obi-Okoye said 21 members of the NWC who attended the meeting yesterday have resolved to uphold the decisions reached at the national stakeholders’ peace meeting held in Awka.

Crisis broke out in the party when some members of the NWC led by its National Vice Chairman (South-east) Ozo Nwabueze Okafor expressed disenchantment over the leadership style of the national chairman, leading to his purported suspension.

However, Obi-Okoye denied that the party leadership is making any move to discipline the rebellious members of the NWC who had earlier moved against the national chairman. He said what is important is that the party has resolved to unite and work as one family once again.

In a communiqué signed by all the 21 NWC members in attendance, the party said that it is committed to the decisions taken by the national leadership of the party on Tuesday in Awka Anambra state wherein the hitherto internal disagreement in APGA was resolved.

The communiqué read: “Following the meeting of the NWC of APGA, we the under-signed members wish to reaffirm that the recent minor disagreement that occurred in the leadership of the party has been resolved since by the National Stakeholders of the party. “At a meeting involving embers of the NWC and the National stakeholders convened on October 11 by the Governor of Anambra state, the national leader and chairman BoT of APGA, Chief Willie Obiano, the erstwhile internal disagreement in APGA was unanimously resolved.

“Consequently, we the undersigned members of the NWC hereby unequivocally reaffirm as follows that we are committed to the decisions taken by the national leadership of the party on Tuesday in Awka, Anambra state wherein the hitherto seemingly internal disagreement in APGA was resolved, aggrieved members of the NWC of our great party are urged to abide by the said decision and revert to status quo ante vellum in the interest of stability and progress of our great party, we further reaffirm our support to the national leadership of our party under Dr. Ike Okoye as the national chairman of APGA”, it added.
