African Heads of ICT Professionals Summit Holds

The African Heads of ICT Professionals Development Summit 2016, tagged (AFRiHiT-Pro), is scheduled to hold November 2016 in Abuja.

The Summit is organised by the Association of Telecommunications Professionals of Nigeria (ATPN).
The summit is endorsed by Africa Telecommunications Union (ATU) and supported by Federal Ministry of Communications, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Sponsored by Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Vodacom Business Nigeria Ltd, Overseas Telecoms and TelePAY Money Transfer.

According to the organisers, the summit is a professional event which has the theme: “ICT Proficiency & Corporate Management: A Panacea to Nation Building”.
It is expected to bring together a wide range of top renowned African Heads of ICT experts, decision/policy makers, government functionaries, practitioners, stakeholders, captains of industry, military and paramilitary. Otters include directors of ICT in tertiary institutions, CIO’s / CTO’s in Oil & Gas companies, financial and non-financial institutions, and student representatives.

The focus of the summit is to strengthen the synergy between African ICT Professionals and with their counterparts in other developing countries in one place for professional deliberation towards the advancement of professionalism in African ICT Industry.

The gathering is also to give honours and recognition to ICT Stakeholders, Veterans and Professionals who have made significant contributions to the ICT Industry and to raise public awareness of the importance of ICT professionals across African continent.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, who is the special guest of honour, will declare the summit open, while the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, will present the keynote speech.

The occasion will be chaired by the Group Chairman/CEO of Teledom Group, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuewem, while the Chairman of the Africa ICT Alliance (ARICTA), Dr. Jimson Olufuye, is a co-Chairman of the summit.

Speakers at the summit include President of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Olusola Teniola; Managing Director of Vodacom Business Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Lanre Kolade; Director of ICT, State House, Gabriel Afu Owan; President/Chairman of Council, Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), Professor Vincent Asor; Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission, Aliyu Abdul-Aziz Abubarka and Executive Commissioner of ICT, ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Isaisa Barretode Rosa.

The summit us expected to discuss issues affecting information and communications technology (ICT) professionals across the African continent.
