Infogem Unveils Programme for Olojo Festival 

Infogem limited, the official consultant and marketer for  Olojo Festival, has thrown open the programme outline for this year’s  event  even as its called on corporate organisations to consider the historical event as  an avenue to promote and showcase  their products to the world through sponsorship. 

This year’s festival ,with the theme: Community Festivals:’A veritable Avenue For Boosting Domestic Tourism’ has been branded to rescusitate the economy of ile-ife and Osun state at large, as seen in the richness and varieties of the event’s line up.

Speaking at  a  corporate forum which unveiled  the festival   and well attended by Yoruba elders in the corporate environment ,including His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi,the Ooni reiterated the need for culture and tourism to be placed at the forefront of development. 

The traditional ruler  who was flanked by yoruba elders and business tycoons including : former Attorney General and the Minister of Justice of Nigeria, Prince Bola Ajibola; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae; Otunba Subomi Balogun and many others also called for  habitual celebration of the elders as an appreciation of the yoruba culture.

“The powers of this world belong to God, the next in line are the elders as they  have seen it all .It is high time we  recognised  their  contributions and learn from their wealth of wisdom to build our future .We are yet to celebrate our elders, we must develop the habit of celebrating them, institutions must celebrate them and not just their children.We must let people know about our elders, they  are powerful elders who have shaped the country in one way or the other”. 

The Director of Heritage Sites and Monuments, National Museum and Monuments, Mr Oluremi Adebayo  also called on all and sundry in the yoruba territory to make it a point of duty to honour this year’s outing even as he explained that such is one way of transmitting cultural  heritage from one generation to another and improving the nation’s investment. 

The Olojo  festival is celebrated to commemorate the descent of Oduduwa to Ile-Ife, Osun State. It is the celebration of the first dawn, the first afternoon and first night in creation; celebrated only in the  land of expansion, Ile-Ife.

Highlight of this year’s festival include :Gbajure Cultural Carnival,Ooni’s football challenge, inter school debate/quiz competition, Ayo olopon traditional game, the Yoruba cultural entertainment night,festival fashion show,cultural trade/Art exhibition among others.
