Ondo: PDP Denies Ceding Candidate for Nov Poll

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday declared that it had not traded off its candidates for the Edo and Ondo state gubernatorial elections as a way of resolving the leadership tussle between the party chairman, Ahmed Makarfi, and his rival, Ali Modu Sheriff.

The declaration of the PDP comes against the rumour being circulated by loyalists of the business mogul, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, that the party had ceded the party’s candidature for Ondo election to the Sheriff faction of the party while the Makarfi faction had been given the Edo candidate of the party.

Supporters of Ibrahim, who PDP said was still a member of Accord Party, had at the weekend gone to town in Akure, the Ondo state capital, with the rumour that their principal, a former member of the PDP, had been considered to replace Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of the PDP in the November 2016 election .
