The former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Deputy Nstional Chairman of the Sheriff faction of the party , Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh, has expressed the commitment of the feuding parties towards restoring peace.

Against the background of the divergent views expressed by the PDP governors in relation to the reconciliatory moves initiated by the Head of the National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Ojougboh advised that all should support the effort to succeed in the interest of the party.

Governor of Ekiti state Ayo Fayose who was among the PDP governors who reacted to the new peace move, rejected it, saying that it is only the Court of Appeal that can resolve the party’s leadership crisis, adding that PDP state governors have not been briefed.

Fayose said: “That move, you see, I’m not against anything called resolution within the party but everybody must wait for Court of Appeal to resolve this matter. The matter is in court, nobody has withdrawn any matter and they are resolving. What are you resolving?

“When matters are in court you, allow court to lay them to rest. The moment this thing doesn’t go with one side, they will tell you we are still in court.

“But allow the court to take a stand and reconciliation would be made easy. I’m not against anybody reconciling with each other but when you see that meeting, ask the coveners if governors were briefed.”

However, Ojougboh said the statement credited to the Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose despising the ongoing efforts by Senator Makarfi and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff at reaching a peace deal, should be ignored.

Ojuogboh who spoke while inaugurating the Delta state executive of the party in Abuja, said both party leaders have realized that the crisis can be appropriately settled by dialogue and use of political solution.
