The House of Representatives has called on the federal government, the Kaduna State Government and the National Geological Survey Agency to take proactive measures over the tremors being experienced in Kaduna State.
Following a motion of urgent national importance sponsored by Hon. Sunday Marshal Katung, (Kaduna APC), the House resolved to summon the Director General of the agency to provide a seismic report on the magnitude of the tremor that recently occurred in Jaba, Kaduna State.
Katung recalled that the state Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has requested that the agency undertake a survey of the affected area to ascertain the cause of the tremor.
He however, expressed concern that the agency, as an institution of the federal government does not hold any reporting relationship with the state government, making it difficult for the directive of the state government to be effected.
Passing the motion unanimously by a voice vote, the House called for investigation to determine the immediate and remote causes of the tremors, in order to arrest future occurrence in the area and the country.
