Guber Election: Jegede Unfolds Agenda for Ondo Women

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ondo State election, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN ), has assured women in the state of opportunities of engagement if elected into office, even as he urged them to be ready and be bold to take up responsibilities.

He said no woman would be denied the opportunity of engagement because of the perception that she is a woman.

If anything, he maintained, they would be encouraged to take up responsibilities adding, that there will be opportunities for the to meet.

Jegede who gave the assurance while fielding questions from journalists in Akure yesterday, said women would be empowered under his government, adding that an additional platform, to the current micro credit scheme operating in the state, would be created to give them opportunities to own businesses and be gainfully engaged in commerce.

According to the gubernatorial candidate, because women also need adequate protection being the weaker sex, his government will  “take a look at our protective laws for the womenfolk, especially considering  what  they go through in terms of inheritance, owing personal property and commerce.”

Justifying his position to protect women, Jegede posited that “they are mothers of all and they should be protected, they need help which we shall render and make them strong enough to be relevant at the home front and also have a solid commerce base.”

Meanwhile, the PDP gubernatorial candidate at the weekend called on the aggrieved members of the party to sheath their swords and join in the drive to propel the party to victory come November.

Speaking at Igbekebo in the southern senatorial district, where the people in their large numbers defied a heavy downpour to receive him  at the community’s town hall, Jegede  promised to leverage on the human and natural resources in the area to improve their socio-economic well being, pleading that “irrespective of what is  in the public domain regarding  a purported division within our great party,  we must tell the whole world that we are united while the minor disagreement will be resolved in no distant time. This is how to tell the opposition parties  in Ondo State that there is no vacancy for them at Alagbaka Government House.

“Let’s all come together to enable us emerge victorious in November because this is God’s own project which is why everything has been working for our good,” Jegede said.

He thanked them for joining the gale of endorsements he had received and promised that with prayers and support, they would get more than they have asked for.
