Myma Belo-Osagie’s winning streaks

Myma Belo-Osagie, wife of Hakeem Belo-Osgaie, Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, is a brilliant legal practitioner.

Her firm Udoma Udo Udoma &Belo Osagie, otherwise known as UUBO, deals in a wide range of practice such as private equity, financial transactions, mergers and acquisitions. The firm’s clients include major telecommunications organisations, insurance companies, capital market firms and power generation companies.

EMEA Finance once rated UUBO, whose other partners include Daniel Agbor, Yinka Edu, Folake Elias, Nicholas Okafor and Ozofu Ogiemuda, as the best law firm in Nigeria . The firm was said to have advised Ecobank Transnational on the disposal of its 70% stake in Oceanic Life, when it acquired the defunct Oceanic Bank; and it also represented UAC of Nigeria when it acquired controlling stake in Livestock Feeds.

The brilliant woman, it was gathered, had assisted with the drafting of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 and was retained by the Federal Government to assist with the drafting of Nigeria’s downstream gas legislation. She had also advised several local, regional and international companies, organisations, institutions and governments on a variety of transactions.

Myma sits on the Board of various companies and acts as a trustee on the Board of several not-for-profit organisations, including the African Leadership Foundation, the Growing Businesses Foundation, the African Wildlife Foundation and the Art and Business Foundation.

She has published several articles on Nigerian petroleum regulations, Nigerian environmental law and foreign investment in Nigeria in international journals such as the Petroleum Economist and the American Bar Association Section on International Law & Practice.
