Sallah: Ahmed, Emir of Ilorin, Baraje, Ex-Minister Preach Peace

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, has urged Muslims to sustain the enduring lessons of love, compassion, sacrifice and faith in Allah that Eid-el Kabir represents by making such characteristics enduring virtues in their lives.

Ahmed said this in his Eid El Kabir message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, to Muslim faithful in commemoration of this year’s Eid El Kabir festival.

The governor also charged all Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs or ethnic differences, to transform such diversities into a platform for national cohesion, understanding and development.

“There’s undoubtedly potency in the diversities of our nationalities that we can drive collectively in the quest for socioeconomic and technological transformation and advancement of the Nigerian space,” he said.

Governor Ahmed said Muslims, in acknowledgment of Islam as a religion of peace, should mark the festival of sacrifice with prayers for our leaders as we meander through the currency of economic challenge. “These are challenges and sacrifices for change which inevitably will lead the country to El dorado”, the governor said.

Akso, in his message, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman State Traditional Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged Muslim faithful to reflect on the reasons for which Eid-Adha came to being by imbibing the culture of patience, tolerance and perseverance in order to be fully rewarded by Almighty Allah.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari stated this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday also urged Nigerian pilgrims to pray fervently for quick economic recovery and harmonious working relationship among the entire citizenry.

The Emir charged the pilgrims to put the interest of the nation at heart in their supplications.

The statement however appealed to youths of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State as a whole to be law abiding before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir sallah festival and also advised parents and guardians to warn their children against indulging any breach of peace.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, called for prayers to enable the country overcome the current economic recession.
Baraje made the call in his Sallah message to Nigerian Muslims.

He posited that it is through fervent prayers that the country can surmount her current challenges.

He said that the current economic recession is a blessing to the country as it will force it to utilize all its untapped numerous resources to diversify the economy.

” I want to seize this opportunity to appeal to our religious leaders to call for a national prayers. It is only prayer that can help us, we need to pray for our leaders for God’s wisdom in piloting the ship of the country.

The former Minister of Youths Development and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, enjoined Muslim faithful to continue to live in peace and use the Eid el Kabir celebration to pray for peaceful co-existence of the country.

Abdullahi, in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday, said, ‘We don’t have any other country than Nigeria; hence, we should continue to love one another and live in peace so as to enhance the social well-being of the populace”.
