Mimiko Meets Farmers, Visits Igoba Road Project Work

Ondo state Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko is to distribute multi-million naira worth of farm input among farmers in the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kayode Akinmade told newsmen in Akure at the weekend that farmers across the 18 local government areas of the state, will benefit from the programme which Mimiko will flag off at Oladejo Matins, Akinnifemi Memorial hall, Bolorundoro in Ondo-East.

According to the Commissioner, farmers in the state are expected to visit the farm service centres in their respective local governments with their smart card otherwise known as Kaadi Igbeayo to be able to benefit from the programme.

He emphasised that the distribution will take place in the 18 local government areas simultaneously with the flag-off in Bolorunduro, adding however that the distribution will be sustained beyond the flag off day.
Slated for distribution to complement the agriculture hardware the farmers will get are surgicides, herbicides, fish feeds, fish nets and iron files among others.

Meanwhile, Governor Mimiko has lauded the management of the Ondo State Agency for Roads Maintenance and Construction (OSARMCO) for the quality job done on roads across the State.

During an unscheduled inspection visit to the on-going 4-kilometre Igoba road in Akure North Local Government Area of the State yesterday, he noted that inspite of the financial challenge facing the State, his administration has continued to utilise the little resources to add value to the lives of the people.

He maintained that the road, which is 1-km completed already by OSARMCO will lift up the commercial activities of the people and will also “give them the pleasure of driving to their homes in a very good and paved road.”

According to him, “Igoba community is a very big community and the road had been very challenging. Inspite of the financial challenge of this era, by the grace of God with very efficient road maintenance and construction agency, they’ve been on this road for about one month now and they’ve done very well.

“This is 4-km road and they’ve done about a kilometre we can see that the people of Igoba and its environ are happy and we are happy with what we have seen”, the governor said.
