AIG Zone 2 Declare Total War on Criminals

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Abdulmajid Ali, wednesday said the police had declared total war on criminals in the zone. According to him, criminals will no longer have place in my zone, saying: “I will not in anyway condole indiscipline, unprofessional conduct and security lapses in any part of the zone.”

Ali spoke during the inauguration of the newly constructed Police complex for the Zonal Intervention Squad (ZIS) in Obada-Oko in Ewekoro Local government Area of Ogun State. He also stated that the zone had recovered 26 stolen vehicles and 17 master keys used by the suspects in stealing the vehicles, charging the officers and men of the zone to be more proactive and committed to duty. He said robbery incidents and other criminal activities along the Lagos-Abeokuta and its environments necessitated the building of the complex, saying, “our men and officers in the area are ready to work very hard to combat crime, maintain law and order and provide quick response to distress calls from members of the public.” He said: “When I was the Commissioner of Police in the State, I had thought about ways in which robbery incidents and other criminal activities along the axis could be tackled and the opportunity came for us to construct this complex.

The state of the earth training facilities available at the Zonal Intervention Squad complex will definitely assist the zone in grooming and baking operational men that will be deployed to crack squad of the police formations within the zone for efficiency and good service delivery, more so that our society is faced with sudden emergence of some violent crimes and social vices that must be tackled,” the AIG added. He called on the people of the state for their support for the police, assuring that the police would continue to make the state unconducive for criminals, saying “I assure the people that very soon they will go to sleep with their two eyes closed.

Criminals will have no place in my zone, we are going after them and hunt them down wherever they go.” However, in his address, state Commissioner for Police, Ahmed Illiyasu, disclosed that the command was willing to extend their presence in all the communities in the state. He noted that community policing is the best form of policing in the society and called for the continued support of the people to assist the police in ridding the state of crime. The commissioner commended the gesture of the people of the community in donating the land for the building of the complex, saying “I want to urge you to continue to give us the necessary support to ensure peace in the society and I assure you that you will not regret your decision.”
