Wema Reopens in Minna, Union Bank Upgrades Branches in PH

Wema Bank Plc said it has re-opened its branch in Minna, Niger State. This, the bank said comes barely a year after it obtained a national banking licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“After Mr. Segun Oloketuyi took over the management of Wema Bank in 2009, the first phase of his turnaround strategy was to scale down operations to the South West and South South regions,” a statement from the bank quoted its Regional Operations Executive, South West and Abuja, Adeyemi Oshundiya to have explained.

“Minna branch was shut down as a result of this. “Now in the final phase of the turnaround plan, Wema Bank is stronger and poised for more growth, hence the opening of new branches and the reopening of some old branches,” he added.

However, Oshundiya emphasises that Wema Bank, in its quest for growth, will only expand to places where there are compelling business opportunities.

Meanwhile, in line with its objective to provide simpler and smarter banking solutions to its existing and prospective customers, Union Bank said it recently launched two newly upgraded branches in Rivers State.
The two newly transformed branches are at 30 Aba Road, Orije and Port Harcourt Station Road in the state, which are fully equipped to deliver quick and efficient services to its customers in a vibrant and conducive environment.
According to the bank, “Our newly upgrade branches simply manifest the work we have put in the past three years to ensure that our customers are offered the simplest and smartest of banking solutions. From our innovative products to our digital platforms, which are UnionOnline and UnionMobile, we are poised to meet our customers at the point of their banking needs.”

In a statement, the Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Emeka Emuwa, while delivering the pre-unveil message, said: “As we approach our centennial anniversary, we remain committed to doing even more and getting better so as to achieve our goal of delivering quick and efficient services to our customers.”

Complementing the bank on the availability of relevant banking channels, CEO Aniecolt Enterprises, Miss Aniekan Billy, said: “I usually have high expectation from any financial institution I bank with, especially with regards to their digital platform and I must say Union Bank’s online banking service is a game changer, the experience on their app is truly fantastic.”
