Ondo: Gunmen Kill Ex-Council Chairman

A former Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mr Niyi Pirisola, was killed by some gunmen in the early hours of Friday at Ilu Tuntun in the council area..

It was gathered that the late former council boss was killed while on his way home from a church vigil when the alleged killers accosted him and shot him.

He was said to have died on the way to the hospital.

Pirisola was a one time Caretaker Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Council under the current administration of Dr. Olusegun and former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the local government until his death.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, adding that the command had begun investigation into the matter.

“The deceased was coming from the church and the assailants attacked and killed him. We have commenced investigation and I am sure the killers will be brought to book. ” the PPRO stated.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Mr Banji Okunomo has condoled with the
family of late Pirisola.
