The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has said that all documents made available by the university for its accreditation to the National Universities Commission’s verification team are factual and truthful.
He said that the university does not get involved in the padding of public documents.
Ambali stated this on Monday when a 35-man National Universities Commission (NUC) Verification Team visited him in his office.
The team was on campus for verification in the faculties of Education, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Management Sciences, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Engineering and Technology preparatory for their respective programmes.
The programmes slated for accreditation included B. Pharmacy, B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying & Geo-informatics, B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning, B.Sc. Marketing and B.Sc. Forestry & Wildlife Management.
Other programmes are B.Sc. Social Works, B.Sc. Psychology, B. Eng. Metallurgical Engineering, B.Eng. Water Resources & Environmental Engineering, B.(Ed.) Business Education, B.(Ed) Agriculture, B.(Ed) Social Studies and all programmes in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
Ambali who said that the university is well-known for its policy on transparency, pointed out that its books are always open for scrutiny.
He called on the verification team to point out areas where the university needs improvement without derailing the programmes tabled for accreditation.
The vice chancellor also said that the university welcomes the bill on sexual harassment in tertiary institutions currently before the National Assembly, noting that the management had already taken steps to ensure that such social ill does not take root in the university.
