I Don’t Belong to Sheriff Faction of PDP, Says Kuku

The former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Kingsley Kuku, on Monday denied the report that he has thrown his support to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

Kuku gave the clarification in a telephone interview with reporters from his base in Alabama in the United States of America (USA) where he said he is recuperating after a successful knee surgery.

The former special adviser specifically declared that he was not part of the crisis in the party both at the state and National levels.

However, he said he would support any genuine moves by the party leadership to resolve all the crisis rocking the party.

The Kuku’s reaction came against the backdrop of a report in some newspapers that he has dumped Dr Olusegun Mimiko’s camp and pitched tent with Sheriff’s faction of the party in the state.

Kuku in his reaction said he did not belong to either of the factions as neither of the factions represents the desire and aspirations of the people of the state.

“Let me state for the records that many political leaders and friends from the PDP and All Progressive Congress (APC) had paid me visit as I recuperate and religiously undergo physical therapy and I thank and appreciate all from my heart.

“In my entire political life, I have never seen, viewed and or associated with anybody as a political follower, surrogate or puppet. Rather, I relate with all as colleagues and equal stakeholders.

“I disavow and condemn any internal crisis in the Ondo PDP. I enjoin all to remain guided by the implications of losing the privilege of service at the national landscape by the party and appreciate the gravest implications of same and possibly worse if we lose Ondo State to another party.
