Imo PDP Sets Up Reconciliation Committee

The new state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Chief Charles Ezekwem, has commenced a peace process among its aggrieved members by setting up a committee to reconcile and harmonize the aggrieved members.

The chairman, while briefing journalists on Wednesday in Owerri, said that the peace committee became necessary because the party being a big umbrella is ready to accommodate all members.

Ezekwem who was elected through a state congress of the party held August,8 assured that peace and harmony would return to the party, insisting that there is no faction in the party.

According to him, “We do not wish to recycle the mistakes of the past because once beaten twice shy. A united PDP can sweep away any vestige of ‘all promises cancelled’ or any other political party, we want to tell our foes that PDP has the capacity and intelligence to solve its internal frictions and we have started the process now”.

He announced the former vice chancellor of the Federal University of Owerri (FUTO) and former governorship aspirant, Professor Jude Njoku as the head of the 18 man committee while the former deputy speaker of the state’s assembly, Chief Chuma Nnaji as the secretary. The f ull list of the members according to the PDP chairman would be made public soon.
