Police Parade Suspected Killer of Obi of Ubulu-Uku, Others

…Introduce lie-detector for recruitment of 10,000 new officers

The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Ibrahim Idris, on Tuesday paraded Umar Mohammed aka (Small), leader of the notorious armed gang suspected to have killed the Obi of Ubulu-Uku, Obi Edward Akaeze Ofulue (111), in January.

Mohammed, the IGP said, was identified by one of the victims who escaped from the kidnappers’ den, adding that he was arrested at Abraka market in Asaba, on July 19 by the Special Anti-kidnapping Operatives.

While parading eight other suspected kidnappers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja before the media, the IGP, who was represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Donald Awunah, said volunteers who give police useful information will be treated in confidentiality.

He commended the public for their increasing assistance to the police through giving information, adding that there is no way the police can succeed in crime prevention without the citizens as their support is critical and germane.

Mohamed spoke in Hausa while answering questions from journalists however denied the allegation.

Paraded alongside Mohammed are: Vincent Obukowho, Mkpere Johnson, Ogheneruona Umukoro, Blessing Akpere, Evidence Okoro, Awulu Godwin, Odogwu Frank and Lamil Garuba.
