The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has solicited the support of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to ensure efficient distribution of petroleum products nationwide before, during and after the four last months of the year – September, October, November and December – which have usually come with supply and distribution pressures.

A statement yesterday from the Group General Manager Public Affairs of NNPC, Mallam Garuba Deen Muhammad, in Abuja stated that the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, made this demand on IPMAN when he received its enlarged National Executive Committee at the NNPC Towers.

It said Baru urged IPMAN to use its vast network of distribution outlets in the downstream sector across the country to deliver petroleum products to Nigerians without engaging in diversion of products.

He also called on the leadership of IPMAN to ensure that the retail price band for all petroleum products approved by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) was used across all its retail outlets.

Baru, the statement added, enjoined IPMAN to take advantage of the liberalisation policy in the downstream sector by the federal government to import petroleum products into the country to guarantee steady supply of petroleum products.
The statement explained that the President of IPMAN, Chief Obasi Lawson, said peace had returned to the leadership of the association, noting that it was prepared to use its various filling stations to ensure effective supply and distribution of petroleum products for the benefit of Nigerians.

It also quoted IPMAN Board of Trustee Chairman,  Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir, to have congratulated Baru on his appointment, stressing that the omen of his appointment brought unity to the lingering crises in IPMAN.
Abdulkadir also extolled Baru’s reported transparent virtues which he said would rub on the nation’s oil and gas industry.
He expressed the readiness of IPMAN to support Baru and his management team to succeed in their task of ensuring seamless supply and distribution of petroleum products nationwide.
