President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met behind closed doors with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The meeting which took place at the President’s office in the State House lasted for about one hour.

Dogara was accompanied to the Villa by some lawmakers from the National Assembly, including Senator Suleiman Nazif (Bauchi).

It was the second of such visits within two weeks.

Efforts to get information from the Speaker by the State House correspondents were futile as Dogara refused to answer any questions from reporters at the end of the meeting.

Asked how long the House recess would last, Dogara said, “I don’t know. You should know now because we adjourned during plenary session. Every media was there.”

Asked whether or not his visit to the president was part of the strategy to reconcile the legislature and executive, Dogara said: “I have not heard of that. This is a distinguished Senator from Bauchi and he is not a member of the House. So if I come to see the President with him, so you know it is not a House matter. Make up? If there is a fight, I don’t know.”
