Economic Crisis: Ooni Urges Wealthy Nigerians to Assist the Poor

-As he empowers over 5,000 widows

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja
II, on Thursday urged privileged Nigerians to assist government in
combating poverty among the less privileged and widows in the country.

Ooni, who stated this while addressing beneficiaries of his
empowerment programme for widows in Ile-Ife and environs in his
palace, said the effort was geared towards empowering them for self-reliance.

Oba Adeyeye noted that the initiative would not stop his monthly food
and cash donations to women, stressing that he conceived the idea of the
empowerment shortly after ascending the throne.

He said the beneficiaries have been grouped into five cooperative
societies and announced that Olofin Microfinance Bank would disburse
loans to the beneficiaries soonest .
