New C’River SWAN Chairman Assumes Office

A new chairman, Mr. Albert Andinam, has assumed office as chairman of the Cross River State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

Andinam, who is on the Sports desk of the Nigerian Chronicle, the state-run newspapers, was the vice chairman of SWAN in the state.

He succeeds Mr. Edward Bekom of Cross River Radio/TV who was elevated to the position of South-South Zonal Vice President during the last National Full Council of SWAN meeting held in Ilorin Kwara State.

Andinam, a former state secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), an avid youth sports writer, had also been the state secretary of the Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) for several years.

He facilitated the establishment of the Calabar-based National Youth Soccer Academy (NYSA) jointly owned by the Cross River Government, the Nigerian Navy and the YSFON.

The outgone chairman, Bekom, while handing over the mantle during an emergency state executive council meeting held recently at media tribune of the UJ Esueune Stadium in Calabar thanked members for the support he enjoyed and called on them to extend same to his successor to sustain the objectives of SWAN.
